Cold weather, little sun - does the solar power still flow?
Here is a calculation example: If the solar panel charges only 4 hours a day due to weather conditions and the charging current drops to only 5 mA, 20 mAh will be charged in one day: 5 mA x 4h = 20 mAh.
Although the battery must supply the current for the remaining 20 hours of the day, additional current is stored. This is because a total of only 4.458 mAh of the charged 20 mAh is consumed during the day. 1 day with only 4 hours of charging time at only 5 mA is therefore already enough for more than 4 days of use: 20/4.458 = 4.48 days.
NOTE: It is not possible to deliver the battery in a fully charged state. At installation, the battery is expected to still have about 30-40% of its power, between 600 and 800 mAh. This charge alone will last you 118 days (600x0.88/4.458) to 158 days (800x0.88/4.458). So battery replacement will not be necessary with this sensor.
