Product Description

Simply place your smartphone in the dedicated StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. After a quick alignment procedure, the app automatically generates a list of currently visible celestial objects and displays on-screen arrows to guide the telescope toward the selected target. When the target enters the field of view, the bullseye indicator turns green.

StarSense Explorer utilizes patented StarSense Sky Recognition technology and the Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA), similar to systems used by orbiting satellites. This allows significantly more precise object location than conventional astronomy apps relying solely on smartphone sensors.

The stable tabletop Dobsonian base offers smooth movement on both altitude and azimuth axes thanks to Teflon bearings. The integrated altitude brake system allows tension adjustment to maintain smooth motion even when accessories create slight imbalance.

The optical tube attaches to the mount via an adjustable tube cradle, allowing comfortable positioning of the focuser. An integrated eyepiece rack keeps additional accessories within easy reach.

The 114mm parabolic primary mirror gathers enough light to reveal details in the Moon, planets, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters. Observers can view Jupiter”s Galilean moons, cloud bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn”s rings, the Trapezium in the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades star cluster, and many other celestial objects.

Even under light-polluted city skies, the telescope can reveal Jupiter, Saturn, the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, double stars, and bright star clusters. Under darker skies, hundreds of additional deep-sky targets become accessible.

StarSense Explorer is compatible with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and newer models, as well as most Android devices running Android 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016.
