Product Description

Compact and versatile design

Weighing less than 0.45 kg, devices in the STORM series can be used as handheld thermal imagers or mounted as riflescopes. The S3R and S6R models additionally feature an integrated rangefinder and ballistic calculator, providing extra functionality for accurate long-range shooting.

Thermal imaging in challenging weather conditions

The STORM series description specifically highlights the S6R model, which features a 640×512 thermal sensor and an ultra-low NETD of less than 20 mK. This configuration delivers highly detailed images even in fog, rain and high humidity. The specific model covered by the technical specifications below is listed with a 256×192 sensor and NETD of less than 25 mK.

Magnification and target detection

The STORM series offers different optical configurations. The S3R provides 3.5× magnification and a stated detection range of up to 1,800 m. The S6R starts with a base magnification of 2× and supports digital zoom up to 3×. Compared with devices equipped with a 384-resolution sensor, the S6R provides sharper images and a significantly wider field of view, making it easier to detect targets at greater distances. These specifications refer to the respective series models and do not replace the specifications of the particular Storm S2 configuration.

Precise operation in any conditions

Large directional buttons provide quick and convenient control, even when wearing gloves. The specially designed control panel makes operating the device straightforward, even in complete darkness.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP)

Unlike conventional riflescopes, the STORM allows the magnification of the PiP window to be adjusted independently of the main image. This makes it possible to maintain an overview of the surroundings while zooming in on a selected target.

Return to Center (RTC) function

After zeroing, the RTC function automatically moves the reticle closer to the centre along the X and Y axes. When the deviation is minimal, the reticle can even be returned directly to the centre. This provides a more comfortable field of view and makes it easier to maintain focus on the target.

Resistance to recoil

The STORM series has been tested to withstand shock loads of up to 1000 g. It is stated to remain stable when used with heavy calibres such as .375 H&H and 12-gauge firearms. The technical specifications for the particular model also list a maximum recoil energy of 6000 J.

Image modes for changing weather conditions

When visibility deteriorates, STORM image modes help maintain thermal image clarity. Sunny Mode is designed to adjust the image in conditions where atmospheric distortion needs to be compensated for, while Rain Mode increases sensitivity in humid conditions. Intelligent parameter adjustments help maintain a clear and detailed image in heavy rain and dense fog.

IP67 waterproof protection

The housing has an IP67 protection rating, providing protection against dust and water ingress. This design helps protect the internal components from environmental exposure.

Wi-Fi integration with the RIX+ app

Built-in Wi-Fi allows the thermal device to connect to Android and iOS smartphones through the RIX+ app. Supported functions include wireless software updates and real-time image streaming to a mobile device.

Photo and video recording with a built-in microphone

The device supports photo and video recording, allowing observations to be saved during both daytime and nighttime use. The integrated microphone records audio along with video. A built-in 32 GB memory provides storage for recorded files.
