DWARFLAB Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco — Smart Telescope for Astrophotography and Stargazing

Draco is a high-performance smart telescope for astrophotography and stargazing. At its heart is a catadioptric optical system with a 90 mm aperture, providing high light-gathering power and high resolution. These characteristics provide suitable conditions for observing and photographing deep-sky objects as well as the Moon and planets.

Key advantages

  • Catadioptric optical system with a 90 mm aperture and 340 mm focal length.
  • 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor for detailed imaging of astronomical objects.
  • Integrated guidescope for precise tracking and single exposures of up to 300 seconds.
  • 128 GB internal storage for images.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC for wireless data transfer.
  • USB-C interface for image transfer and charging the built-in battery.
  • Integrated sensor cooling reduces thermal noise, while the generated heat is used to regulate the optics temperature and prevent the front lens from fogging.
  • IP56 protection against dust and powerful water jets.
  • Additional 1/1.8-inch wide-angle camera for sky orientation, framing and imaging large areas of the sky.
  • Telephoto and wide-angle cameras can be used simultaneously.
  • Physically rotatable CMOS sensor for flexible image orientation, including vertical and diagonal compositions.
  • Supports classic Alt-Az operation as well as EQ mode for longer and more precise tracking.

Product description

The Draco 90 mm optical system projects light onto a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which captures astronomical subjects sharply and in detail. The integrated guidescope enables precise tracking and single exposures of up to 300 seconds. Images are stored in the 128 GB internal memory.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC are available for wireless data transfer. Via Wi-Fi, data can be transferred over a distance of up to 15 metres at a rate of up to 30 MB/s. Images can also be transferred to a compatible device via USB-C. The same port is used to charge the built-in battery with a capacity of 77 Wh (10,000 mAh / 7.7 V). The battery provides approximately five hours of operating time.

The integrated sensor cooling system reduces thermal noise and improves conditions for high-quality astrophotography, particularly during longer exposures. The heat generated during operation is specifically used to regulate the temperature of the optics and prevent the front lens from fogging on cold or damp nights.

With an IP56 protection rating, Draco is designed for use in varying weather and environmental conditions. The housing is protected against dust and powerful water jets, making it suitable for mobile use outdoors.

An additional 1/1.8-inch wide-angle camera expands the telescope's functions. It assists with orientation in the sky and selecting the desired frame, while also enabling images of large areas of the sky such as the Milky Way. The telephoto and wide-angle cameras can be used simultaneously, allowing both the wider surroundings and the actual subject to be captured.

The CMOS sensor can be physically rotated, allowing the image format to be flexibly adapted to the subject. This is particularly useful for vertical or diagonal compositions.

In addition to classic Alt-Az operation, Draco supports EQ mode. This enables longer and more precise tracking, expanding the possibilities for deep-sky photography.

Draco can be used for deep-sky imaging, Moon and planet photography, Milky Way images, star trails, time-lapse and panoramic photography. The smart telescope combines astronomical optics with automated tracking, integrated image processing and versatile imaging functions.

Versions

Draco is available in two versions.

  • Standard DWARFLAB Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco: astronomy filter, dark-frame filter, integrated ND solar filter (OD=5), and dual narrowband Hα+OIII filter with a half-width of 13±3 nm.
  • DWARFLAB Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco SHO: astronomy filter, dark-frame filter, external ND solar filter (OD=5), dual narrowband Hα+OIII filter with a half-width of 13±3 nm, and dual narrowband SII+OIII filter with a half-width of 13±3 nm. This version therefore allows imaging using the so-called Hubble palette.

The standard version is suitable for the vast majority of users, while the SHO version is particularly suited to astrophotography specialists.
